There are numerous free footbaths throughout the town of Takayu Onsen. Enjoy different types of scenery and a variety of water types.
Omoi-no-Yu
Omoi-no-Yu is located at the end of the steps leading to Kumano Shrine and is a relatively new bath. It opened in 2013. The structure is made of locally-grown hinoki cypress giving it a rich woody fragrance. This spacious footbath can fit up to 10 people. Hours: 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.
Urabandai Visitor Center
This footbath is housed under a charming pavilion-style roof and located next to the Tsukinoyu Bridge. Enjoy the picturesque scenery and the sound of the river flowing below as you soak your feet in the hot spring water. Hours: 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.

Shimo-no-Yu, in the center of the town, has three footbaths with varying temperatures. There are shops selling drinks, steamed buns, and other refreshments nearby, so you can soak your feet while drinking a cup of tea. After the sun sets, the streets are illuminated with kokeshi doll lanterns, creating an enchanting atmosphere. Hours: 8:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m.
Two giant kokeshi dolls stand at the end of the Arakawa-Ohashi Bridge, and Kajika-no-Yu is located right next to them. In the summer, listen to the sounds of kajika frogs (Buergeria buergeri) and the nearby river as you relax in this spacious footbath. Hours: 9:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.
