Hot Spring
A gentle walk through marshlands with a soak in a hot spring at the end
This walk begins at Nitanuma parking lot. The easy trail passes by Nitanuma Marsh and Onuma Marsh. Enjoy seasonal flowers, such as Asian skunk cabbage and dogwood violets in spring. The trail circles back to Nitanuma parking lot without you having to retrace your steps. Relax in a nearby onsen after a leisurely tour of the marshland.
Nitanuma Marsh
This gentle trail from Nitanuma parking lot will take you to Nitanuma Marsh in 20 minutes. Expect to see dogwood violets on the way from mid to late April. Walk under giant Japanese alder trees as you complete the 15-minute course around Nitanuma Marsh. Snowy white skunk cabbage covers the surrounding wetlands in the spring.
Finish the hike at a hot spring
Onuma Marsh is a 15-minute walk from Nitanuma. Near Onuma, you will find a spring where you can quench your thirst and take a break. Circle the marsh before you walk a quiet forest path back to the Nitanuma parking lot. After your hike, you can stop by the nearby Tsuchiyu Onsen to take a dip in its natural hot springs.
