Hiruzen Three Peaks Traverse

Ascend the three peaks of Mount Hiruzen and enjoy different views from their summits

The Hiruzen Three Peaks is the collective name for Kami-Hiruzen Peak (1,202 m), Naka-Hiruzen Peak (1,123 m) and Shimo-Hiruzen Peak (1,100 m), which straddle the border between Tottori and Okayama prefectures. The high altitude of this area keeps temperatures low during the summer months.

From the Shimo-Hiruzen trailhead, head through bamboo grassland toward Shimo-Hiruzen Peak. You will be rewarded with lofty views of the Hiruzen Highland and Mount Daisen (1,729 m) in the distance from the summit. Continue along the same path to the peaks of Naka-Hiruzen and Kami-Hiruzen.

After reaching Naka-Hiruzen Peak, choose between continuing on to Kami-Hiruzen Peak or taking a different route down to the Shiogamano-Reisen Spring. If you continue on to Kami-Hiruzen Peak, you'll get another perspective of Mount Daisen, as well as a view of Mount Karasugasen (1,448 m). This hiking trail features the purple blooms of dogtooth violets in May, while October and November are the best times to enjoy the red, orange and yellow leaves of autumn.
