Ashinoko-Hakone Skyline Drive

Take a scenic drive along the Hakone Caldera for great views of Lake Ashinoko and Mount Fuji

This scenic drive takes you across the western ridge of the Hakone Caldera, formed by the collapse of volcanoes in this area hundreds of thousands of years ago. Viewpoints along the drive offer stunning views of Mount Fuji, Mount Komagatake and Lake Ashinoko. Along the route, you'll find teahouses, observation decks, and other points of interest.

Note that the Ashinoko-Hakone Skyline is a toll road with fixed open hours.

Start at Hakone Pass and head north. On your right, you will see Mount Komagatake and the deep blue waters of Lake Ashinoko. Stop by the observation deck at Lake View Rest House to enjoy panoramic views of the area.

On clear days, Mount Fuji is visible throughout the drive. The view from Mikuni Pass, marked by an engraved rock, is particularly stunning and a popular spot for photos.
