A long and leisurely ride offering lofty views of some of Japan’s most iconic scenery

Board a Hakone Ropeway gondola to view sights such as the smoking and sulfurous Owakudani Valley, the calm waters of Lake Ashinoko and the grandeur of Mount Fuji (3,776 m). The 24-minute journey covers 4 kilometers, making it one of the world’s longest ropeway rides. Since the ropeway runs year-round, you can take in the different sights and sounds of every season.

Gondolas depart every minute, and pass over the volcanically active Owakudani region. The conditions at Owakudani change frequently, and gondola operation is suspended when volcanic activity increases to an unsafe level. Please check the website in advance before visiting.
