A guided hike exploring the ponds and marshlands of Shiga Kogen
Take a guided 10-kilometer trek that hits all the natural highlights of the Shiga Kogen highlands. The tour passes by Shibuike Pond, Shijuhachiike Marsh, and Onumaike Pond, which are located around Mount Shiga.
First, you will take a ski lift up Mount Maeyama for views across Mount Yokote, then hike to Shibuike Pond, which is known for its small floating islands. The tour continues to Shijuhachiike Marsh, a natural alpine wetland. Finally, you will visit Onumaike Pond, a cobalt blue pond that lies in a specially protected area of Joshin’etsukogen National Park.
