Wild Japanese snow monkeys bathe in the hot springs at this nature park

Jigokudani Yaen-koen is a nature park where you can observe wild Japanese macaques—better known as snow monkeys— in their natural habitat. Observe their fascinating social structure as the monkeys roam free and, in winter, often bathe in the hot spring water. The park features exhibits on snow monkey biology and behavior, as well as opportunities to learn about nature in the area.
