Keramashoto National Park

Ao no Yukuru Kan Visitor Center

Enrich your visit to the Kerama Islands through learning

Ao no Yukurukan is a visitor center that opened in Keramashoto National Park in October 2021. The center's terracotta red roof tiles and the shisa guardian deities at the entrance to the facility are symbols of Okinawan culture.

Ao no Yukurukan introduces the Kerama Islands, their rich history and local culture, and conservation initiatives in the park. The islands are home to diverse wildlife such as humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae), and the sea around them is a dazzling "Kerama Blue".

The center shows 360-degree footage of the ocean, and large images of stunning island landscapes and wildlife. Visitors can also learn about island rules—implemented to conserve the beaches and the marine environment.

Stop by Cafe Yukuruya, on the first floor of the visitor center, to relax with some coffee and enjoy sweeping views of the sea.
