Local advice for safer and more colorful travels
Whether you’ve come to Kagoshima for hiking, shrines, hot springs or all three, a quick visit to Kirishima City Tourist Information Center in Kirishima-jingu Onsen Village will improve your trip. Conveniently located next to Kirishima Shrine’s giant torii gate, drop in to find out more about local attractions such as Kirishima Shinsui Gorge, Mitarashi Falls, or one of the many excellent hot springs that receive their hot water from the 800-meter-high Yunono Onsen.
Make your hike as safe as possible by paying a visit to the center before you head out, as the mountains of Kirishima are still part of an active volcanic area. Staff can also advise on the best times and places to enjoy seasonal attractions and local events such as fire festivals and processions. The facility is open year-round except for the New Year holiday period.
