Year-round activities and bird’s-eye views of spectacular scenery
In winter, glide down Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort's long, wide runs, including one of Japan’s longest ski runs at 8.5 kilometers. This area sometimes gets over 1 meter of snowfall overnight in peak season, making it a magnet for fans of deep powder snow.
You will get a sense of Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort’s scale on the long, lazy ride on the Suginohara Gondola as it travels up the mountainside. The ride lasts about 18 minutes. There are great views of the Kita-Shinano Mountains and Lake Nojiri from the top station of the gondola (around 1,500 meters). When the weather is fine, you may even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji (3,776 m).
In spring, summer and autumn, enjoy views of pristine wetlands and virgin forest from the gondola. A nature trail starts near Suginohara Gondola's top station, which winds along a path lined with trees that have survived years of deep snowfall, causing them to buckle and bend into strange shapes. In May, the area opens for cross-country mountain biking, with gondola-serviced downhill courses.
