Reach the highest peak in the Nasu mountain range in no time
A ride on the Nasu Ropeway offers you a chance to scale the highest peak in the Nasu mountain range, Mount Chausu (1,915 m), without too much effort. From the ropeway's top station, it's a 50-minute hike to the summit. You will see plumes of white volcanic steam rising from Mount Chausu's crater as you make your way along the trail to the peak. Take in the views of Mount Asahi and Mount Sanbonyari beyond.
Making use of the ropeway means that you can scale this mountain without the need for serious hiking gear. However, be sure to wear sensible shoes and bring a light jacket, as conditions at the peak are often different to those at ground level.
