A ride on the Nasu Ropeway offers passengers a chance to scale the highest peak in the Nasu Mountain Range without too much effort. Your journey starts from Mount Chausu’s seventh hiking station and ends just before the summit, where plumes of white volcanic smoke rise from the crater, and views over Nasu and beyond await.
The ropeway covers a stretch of the hike that is somewhat harder than the rest of the route, so making use of this cable car means that you can scale this mountain without the need for serious hiking gear. However, be sure to wear sensible shoes and bring a light jacket, as conditions at the peak are often different to those at ground level. The ropeway is open from mid-March to the end of November.
