Shikotsu Forest Morning Walk

Parks Overview Parks Overview

Birdwatchers will love this refreshing early morning walk through the forest surrounding Lake Shikotsu

Start the day with a guided walk through the forest around Lake Shikotsu beginning at 7:00 a.m. Get close to nature in Hokkaido while the forest is still waking up—a bird watcher's delight. You can hear an array of birdsong in summer and see a variety of migratory birds—the lake is a habitat for a third of all species of migrating birds in Japan. A local guide leads the way and assists you in spotting birds, unique trees and flowers, and Hokkaido wildlife, including squirrels and deer.
