Don snowshoes to traverse deep powder and visit a rare volcanic wonder
Join this guided hike through high-altitude forests to reach the geothermal attractions of the Oyunuma Ponds. At over 1,000 meters above sea level, deep and fluffy snow is all but guaranteed. Learn to navigate this route using snowshoes and resist the temptation to dive into the seemingly endless powder. On reaching the Oyunuma Ponds, observe how steam constantly bubbles up to the surface, releasing a distinctive sulfurous smell. A coffee break will also be provided during the tour.
