Seasonal scenery from the comfort of a cable car
Sit back and enjoy panoramic views of Towada-Hachimantai National Park while making an effortless ascent into the lower reaches of the Hakkoda mountain range. The range spans the northern part of the park and is composed of over ten peaks.
Sizeable cable cars provide unsurpassed views of the area’s ever-changing alpine flora. See colorful blooms of rare flowers during spring and summer, and enjoy a very different landscape as the leaves turn during fall. The mountains are equally impressive during winter, and also offer excellent powder skiing.
The rooftop viewing platform of the ropeway’s highest station provides a 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains, forests, and marshland. On a clear day, visibility extends across the sea and all the way to Hokkaido. Fresh scallops are on offer at either of the ropeway’s two restaurants, with one situated at the base station and the other at the summit. The route also offers barrier-free access to wheelchair users. Check the Hakkoda Ropeway’s English homepage for up-to-the-minute information on special events and live updates on ropeway status.
