Hike past ancient lava flows and fields of alpine plants to the summit of Mount Iwate
The Yakehashiri Trail begins at the Yakehashiri Lava Flow on the northeastern slope of Mount Iwate. On your way to the summit, you will pass two eruption vents that offer panoramic views of the expansive fields of hardened lava. In late June, you will be able to spot blooming clusters of native flowers. Many sections along the trail—such as the Eighth Station—provide beautiful views of Mount Iwate.
