Japan is now open to travelers from all countries or regions!
Those who enter Japan on or after April 29th 2023 are not be required to present a valid vaccination certificate or a Covid-19 negative test certificate.

☐ Check Your Visa Requirement

From 11th October, pre COVID-19 visa exemption arrangements are resumed. Please refer to MOFA website for more details. Prescribed applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up Systems (ERFS) are no longer required.

☐ [From April 29th 2023] No Need for a Valid Vaccination Certificate or a COVID-19 Negative Test Certificate

Those who are entering Japan on or after April 29th, 2023, will not be required to present a valid vaccination certificate or a COVID-19 negative test certificate.

☐ Go to Visit Japan Web for smooth entry through the Immigration and Customs

Immigration and Customs
-Register relevant information and get QR codes on Visit Japan Web for smooth entry into Japan. QR codes are generated after the registration.
*Immigration and Customs procedures on Visit Japan Web are available at 7 major airports (Tokyo/Narita, Tokyo/Haneda, Kansai, Chubu, Fukuoka, New Chitose, Naha).

If you don’t use Visit Japan Web, you may submit the required paper documents or register your information at the arriving airport. Document confirmation process on site may require an extended period of time. It is strongly recommended for you to register all information via Visit Japan Web in advance.

-From 1st November 2022, you cannot use MySOS. Please use Visit Japan Web.

☐ Buy Travel Insurance

It is strongly recommended that you purchase a private medical insurance with adequate coverage and services that includes coverage for medical expenses related to COVID-19.

*Medical expenses can be very high for foreign visitors to Japan who get injured or become ill during the stay. Please be aware that foreign visitors who fail to pay their medical expenses may be denied entry into Japan in the future.

-Show your QR codes on Visit Japan Web at Immigration and Customs of the arriving airport.
*If you don’t use Visit Japan Web, you may submit required paper documents (such as immigration card and customs declaration) on site.

* Forgot to join a Travel Insurance?

Tokio Marine Nichido offers insurance that foreign visitors can apply after arriving in Japan. It introduces medical facilities, interprets between you and the doctor, and has cashless medical service.
