Japan's top whale watching destinations

Spot humpback whales in the waters around the Kerama Islands, west of the main island of Okinawa, from January to March. Tours around Zamami and Tokashiki islands have almost a 98 percent chance of seeing whales, making the area one of Japan's most popular whale watching destinations. Ongoing conservation efforts continue to protect the whales and other marine life that inhabit these waters.
