Parks Overview Parks Overview

Learn the legends of a sacred pilgrimage trail from Daimonzaka to Nachi Waterfall

Walk the most picturesque stretch of the ancient Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route with a professional storyteller who can share the history and legends surrounding this registered UNESCO World Heritage site.

Walk the mossy cobbled path of the cedar-lined Daimonzaka slope to Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine, one of the three main shrines of Kumano Sanzan, as well as Nachisan Seigantoji Temple, and Nachi Falls. Along the route, your guide will share the history of Kumano Shinko, the faith dedicated to the mountains of Kumano. Followers believed that gods inhabited the waterfalls, rivers, and boulders of the area.
