Day 1

Underwater sightseeing and a starry sky barbecue

Take the high-speed ferry (roughly a 40-minute ride) or regular ferry (approximately 70 minutes) from Naha Tomari Port to Tokashiki Port in the morning, then take the shuttle to Aharen Beach. Find somewhere for lunch, then head to the shop called Island Marine Service for a spectacular sightseeing excursion on the trusty Yellow Submarine, a semi-submersible vessel. You'll get an intimate view of the seascapes of Tokashikijima Island, including the rich array of coral reefs and the aquatic creatures that make their homes around them, such as fluorescent blue damselfish, butterflyfish, Moorish idols, clownfish, and giant clams.

After the boat tour, walk over to AHAREN CAMP SITE. Take some time to relax and then gear up for your unique evening experience: an outdoor barbecue under the starry skies. The campsite staff will make sure you have everything you need to get your grill going. Let the sights and sounds of Aharen Beach lull you into tropical bliss as the day grows dark and a beautiful night sky appears overhead.

Day 2

Meet the sea turtles of Tokashikijima Island

Enjoy a leisurely morning while packing up your belongings at AHAREN CAMP SITE, then walk over to begin a guided activity that will jumpstart your day: snorkeling with the sea turtles, which flourish in the waters around Keramashoto National Park thanks to the abundant coral reefs here. A local guide with deep knowledge of the area and the turtles themselves will swim along with you so you have a safe and enjoyable time.

This experience lasts around two hours and makes for thrilling memories that you'll always cherish from your time on Tokashikijima Island. In the afternoon, have lunch and get ready for your return trip to Naha Tomari Port. If you want to extend your visit to the island, you can try swimming or sunbathing at Tokashiku Beach, the other main beach on Tokashikijima Island, or strike out on your own.

While buses do run on the island, the infrequent service means that it is better to travel by rental car, scooter, or bicycle. Between December and April, you can also opt to go on a three-hour whale watching tour to catch sight of the humpback whales that have traveled all the way down to this region from Alaska. The opportunity to witness a stunning range of nature's wonders is just one of many reasons to make a trip to Tokashikijima Island.
