A rural city in Saitama Prefecture easily accessible from Tokyo, Chichibu is blessed with a beautiful natural environment and a rich cultural heritage. Home to numerous shrines and temples, Chichibu also flourished as a center of silk production and is famous for a unique silk textile called Chichibu Meisen.

Opened in August 2022, NIPPONIA Chichibu Shrine Town is a decentralized accommodation facility made up of three renovated old buildings where you can immerse in the history and culture of Chichibu throughout your stay. Each guest room retains elements of the original building, such as the ceiling, walls, and pillars, and the interiors are characterized by the atmosphere of different eras, from Meiji (1868–1912) and Taisho (1912-26) to Showa (1926–89). The different views of the townscape, gardens, and mountains, allow you to experience Chichibu as a land where history, culture, and nature blend together in harmony.

The facilities are located near Chichibu Shrine, which boasts a history of about 2000 years, and the surrounding area retains the bustle of the time when it prospered as a silk-producing town, so you can feel the vibrancy of the city and blend in with local life during your stay. Wear one of the Chichibu Meisen kimono available for rent and go for a walk through Chichibu’s retro, stylish streets. Take a break at a café to enjoy local gourmet food or a gelato.

Endowed with abundant, high-quality water resources, Chichibu has a long and rich tradition of alcohol production and is proud of its identity as a "brewing town." There are several breweries and shops around town where liquor lovers can enjoy tasting and comparing various types of local sake, wine, whiskey, and beer. Bar hopping is also recommended at night.

How to get there

From Tokyo Station, take the Shinkansen to Kumagaya Station (40 minutes). From there, take the Chichibu Railway to Chichibu Station (about 70 minutes). The hotel is about 5 minutes on foot from Chichibu Station.
