TOP RECOMMENDATIONSKiroro Snow World

How to get there

By car

The resort is around 90 minutes by car from New Chitose Airport, 60 minutes from Sapporo and 40 minutes from Otaru. During the winter, there are Kiroro buses that run directly to the resort. Reservations are required for the bus.

By train

Take the train from Sapporo Station to Otaru Station, or from New Chitose Airport Station to Otaru Chikko Station. Then rent a car or a take a taxi to the resort.

A haven of high-quality, heavy snowfall

Kiroro’s snow quality is considered particularly good — even by Hokkaido’s high standards — and there are times when the snow builds up to over five meters. The excellent, heavy snowfall attracts snow enthusiasts to Kiroro who take on the 14 runs in the four off-piste ski areas (excluding off-limit areas) in addition to the regular courses.

Two luxury resorts — one superb winter experience

There are two luxury resorts at the foot of the ski area — the Sheraton Hokkaido Kiroro Resort and The Kiroro, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Hokkaido. The Sheraton Hokkaido Kiroro Resort’s location at the base of the mountain provides its guests with very easy access to the slopes. One of the distinctive features of The Kiroro, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Hokkaido, is the neighboring Ice Star Resort. At this subzero restaurant, café, and bar, everything is sculpted out of ice and snow — including the glasses (open in select periods).

Fun for all ages — activities in abundance

The snow park is the place to go for frosty fun — especially with the little ones — and enjoy some sleighing and tubing. Alternatively, book a more active experience on a snow banana boat, mini snowmobile, snow buggy, snow bubble ball, or snow fat bike. Head deeper into the Hokkaido wilderness on a snowshoe trekking tour, snowcat tour or the sherpa twilight tour — a large snowmobile ride during the late afternoon/early evening.
