Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture
As a central hub during Japan’s early period of modernization and the birthplace of the nation’s navy, including submarines, Yokosuka has a wealth of historical, cultural and natural assets.
The Yokosuka Route Museum is a museum that brings all these together by presenting the entire city as a “museum” of connected sights and experiences.
Introducing over 60 attractions, the Yokosuka Route Museum makes it easy for visitors to plan and map explorations of the city’s architecture, historical monuments, industrial landmarks, naval history, parks, and gardens. Pick historic sites of Yokosuka to create your own route or choose a recommended model course.
Visitors to the Yokosuka Modern Heritage Museum Thibaudier Residence will also find a large interactive digital display and attraction information cards to help further plan a custom tour of the city.
Take the JR Yokosuka Line from Tokyo Station to Yokosuka Station (about 1 hour) or the Keikyu Line from Haneda Airport to Shioiri Station (about 1 hour). The museum is a 5- minute walk from either station.
