JAPAN Best Incentive Travel Awards 2020 Winners Announced

New Zealand company Fortis Events awarded 'Special Recognition' in global JAPAN Best Incentive Travel Awards for 2020

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) recently awarded Fortis Events, New Zealand a ‘Special Recognition’ award as part of the global “Japan Best Incentive Travel Awards 2020”, for Fortis Events’ Hynds VIP Rugby World Cup 2019 Tour (New Zealand).

Now in its fifth year, these awards recognise outstanding examples of incentive trips to Japan for 100 pax nights or more for trips carried out in 2019. Of the 83 applications received from 16 countries and regions, Fortis Events was one of the four 2020 entrants recognised by JNTO.

This is the first time a New Zealand participant has been selected, and it highlights the ability to work with clients to promote MICE events in Japan.

Yoko Tanaka, JNTO Sydney Office Executive Director said, “Fortis Events’ incentive trip particularly impressed the jury, as it was an exemplary incentive held alongside a large-scale sporting event. The incentive travel itinerary followed the Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2019 matches and introduced participants to different regions across Japan.”

Fortis’ incentive tour was designed to reward business partners in a VIP manner, and consisted of 86 participants from New Zealand, who visited Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagasaki, Osaka and Himeji over 13 days. The tour succeeded in combining the RWC with a taste of Japan, providing highly memorable and authentic experiences, such as a welcome dinner party on a yakatabune cruise of Tokyo Bay, and specially designed gifts. Most participants on this incentive tour discovered Japan for the first time, and feedback from the group was that they hoped to return with their families in the future.

Joelle Talbot, Fortis Events Managing Director said, “We are so grateful for this special recognition; it was a great way to end 2020. We can’t wait to bring incentive groups back to Japan once border restrictions ease.”

JNTO observed the excellent planning of the incentive trip and well thought out reward that the trip aimed to accomplish for Fortis’ clients. Fortis will feature on JNTO’s global website and in press releases on the awards, as well as receiving a special recognition award certificate.

Previously, JTB Australia was awarded 'Best Community Contribution' in the 2018 Awards. JNTO looks forward to receiving many more future entries in the Japan Best Incentive Travel Awards from Australia and New Zealand.
