The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) returns for its 29th year! This year’s tour spans five major cities, beginning in Canberra on 27 October 2025 and culminating in Brisbane on 19 December.

From the gripping tale of a kabuki actor who becomes a living national treasure to the microscopic adventures of a rookie red blood cell navigating the human body alongside a relentless white blood cell, this year’s lineup is as creative as it is diverse.

With 125 latest release screenings and 52 special series screenings on offer, there’s something for every kind of viewer. Whether you're a seasoned cinephile or just curious about Japanese storytelling, JFF is your gateway to unforgettable narratives, breathtaking visuals and rich cultural immersion.

Discover why Kokuhō was chosen as Japan’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars or dive into a quirky customer service adventure, set in a world where animals rule the shopfloor.

The full program   is out now. Get ready to be transported – no passport required!
