Japan is comprised of 4 main islands - Honshu, Hokkaido, Shikoku, and Kyushu. But let’s not forget the more than 14,000 other islands that comprise the country. Whenever you travel around the country, be sure not to forget some of the islands off the coast, as they can offer some wonderfully unique experiences. You could try Sado Island off the coast of Niigata Prefecture, the Oki Islands of Shimane Prefecture, or the many islands of the Seto Inland Sea. However, let’s not forget to head further south to Kagoshima Prefecture, and even further south to explore Amami Oshima!

Saga Prefecture, nestled in the northwest of the island of Kyushu, might be home to some of the coolest experiences that one can have in Japan. Just a short flight of less than two hours from Tokyo, or a quick train ride under an hour from Fukuoka Prefecture, Saga Prefecture has more than enough highlights for a wonderful trip.

With just under 600 different islands in the prefecture, Nagasaki is full of cultural and natural experiences for anyone who makes the trip over. Stretching out over the west coast of the southern island of Kyushu, endless views and beautiful beaches make for a relaxing stay. Whether you are travelling by bullet train or plane, boating to and from the many islands off the coast, you’re in for a stunning time in Nagasaki Prefecture.
