On 8 March 2021, the animated science fiction movie Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time was released in Japan. The reaction in Japan has been positive - the movie set a new opening-day box office record at local IMAX theatres. Below are a couple of Evangelion-inspired attractions that have captured the hearts of its legions of fans in Japan.
Toei Kyoto Studio Park
As the name suggests, this movie theme park and studio can be found in Kyoto City and is operated by the Toei Company, a well-known producer of Japanese movies and television programs. While there, you can't miss the gigantic about 15-metre-tall EVA-01 cyborg - it is a popular photo-spot for visitors.
SMALL WORLDS TOKYO
At this miniature theme park in Ariake, Tokyo, you will be amazed at the level of detail in the two 1/80-scale areas dedicated to Evangelion.
In the EVANGELION: CAGE area, the Evangelions are in their cages and ready to be sent on assignment. In the EVANGELION: TOKYO-III area, you are treated to both day and night scenes of the fortress city and spot famous locations like where main protagonist, Shinji Ikari, went to school and his apartment.
If you're a fan of the genre, why not add some unforgettable anime experiences to your next trip to Japan? When the time is right, we hope you get to experience it all. ©️khara
