Partners Information: Yahatakan is one of the nine accommodations certified by Sakura Quality on Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture.
Yahatakan is a renowned, elegant hotel that has welcomed numerous prominent figures and celebrities, such as government officials and members of the Imperial Household, including the Showa Emperor. Located in the central part of Sado, the hotel provides an ideal base for both sightseeing and business.
Yahatakan has spacious guest rooms, meals centring around fresh seafood, and soft-textured hot spring waters directly from the source.
A pellet boiler has been installed in this hot spring. For Sado, being a remote island, there are many merits in using local wood for biofuel as an alternative energy source to oil.
Yahatakan's pellet boiler is fuelled by waste wood, pellets, and wood chips from forest thinning. The pellets burn very cleanly and create only a layer of fine fly ash as a byproduct of combustion.
Using efficient combustible and renewable energy resources makes Yahatakan an environment-conscious facility, which is also a rating criteria for Sakura Quality.
Due to the current pandemic, measures against the spread of coronavirus have become crucial and are therefore a criteria as well.
Sakura Quality's certification system is pretty stringent in its ratings, so guests can feel assured of the accommodation's high standards when they are certified by Sakura Quality.
