WIN flights for two to beautiful Shikoku with ANA to explore its four prefectures.

Dust off your suitcases because this is the chance for you and a friend to win a trip to one of the most beautiful and spiritual islands in Japan – Shikoku.

You’ll get to visit all four of its prefectures to understand why it was awarded one of the Top 10 regions to travel to in the world by Lonely Planet.

Read on to learn about the key highlights of each prefecture. Think you know your stuff already? Go ahead and click on 'Enter now' to answer our four questions for your chance to win a trip to Shikoku!

Historic hot springs and cycling across islands

Tucked up against jagged mountains, rural landscapes and views of bright blue seas are the quaint towns and peaceful cities of Ehime Prefecture. Situated in the Northwest of Shikoku, you can cycle across the picturesque Shimanami Kaido, which takes you over magnificent bridges and landscapes to Onomichi in Hiroshima. On your journey, make sure to stop by Dogo Onsen, the oldest hot spring resort in Japan.

Modern art, ocean views and delectable noodles

On the northern end of Shikoku is Kagawa Prefecture, the smallest of the four prefectures. But don’t be mistaken by its size because it does pack a lot in. It’s known for its museums, multiple small islands in the Seto Inland Sea, large modern art installations and its olive production. If you get hungry, then udon is the way to go with some of the nation’s best noodle shops located here. And after you’ve eaten, walk it off with a scenic stroll through Ritsurin Koen – one of Japan’s most famous gardens.

Whirlpools, vine bridges and a major dance festival

This prefecture is located in the eastern corner of Shikoku and is best known for its nature and outdoor activities like white-water rafting and surfing. There are also sightseeing cruises that take you alongside the Naruto whirlpools. If that’s not enough, suspend your disbelief and head across the vine bridges that connect the mountainous terrain within the Iya Valley. These bridges are handwoven and rebuilt every three years.

Rural views, watersports and outdoor escapes

Looking out over the Pacific Ocean is Kochi Prefecture. Here surfers gather from all over Japan to ride the rugged coastline. If surfing isn’t your thing, then head inland to the clear waters of the Shimanto River, where you can trek and camp. Dotted around the area are historical townscapes that are home to old sake breweries and local specialties like Kochi bonito, yuzu and imokenpi (candied sweet potato).
