Kurogi no Ofuji (the giant wisteria tree)

Partners Information: Kurogi no Ofuji (the giant wisteria tree) located on the Susano Shrine grounds in Yame City, Fukuoka bloom between mid-April and early May each year. 

The tree is said to be around 620 years old, the total area of its support structure is 3,000 square metres and its longest flower clusters measure in at 150 centimetres. The tree looks truly spectacular when it blooms - so much so it was deemed a natural monument by the Japanese government.
