Japan has once again proven that it is the top destination in Asia for associations conferences and congresses.
According to the 2017 statistics recently released by the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA), Japan has maintained its long-held status as #1 in Asia and #7 in the world for number of meetings hosted.
The ICCA rankings clearly illustrate one of Japan's key strengths: the diversity of the choice of host cities offering professional convention bureau services, purpose-built venues and convenient access for international events. Despite its relatively small size, an impressive 13 Japanese cities rank among the top 300—the same as China.
In addition to Tokyo, which jumped 3 places to #18, Japan's second-tier cities showed particular strength. Nagoya rose to #104, Sapporo to #108 and Kanazawa jumped an impressive 8 positions to #193.
The statistics also highlight the extensive strengths of Japanese industry, with high numbers of meetings focusing on topics in diverse industries including the sciences, technology, medical sciences, education, transport & communications, social sciences, ecology & environment and economics.
