Partners Information: The Oshawott Train featuring the loveable Pokémon debuted on 17 January 2022 in Mie Prefecture.
Illustrations of Oshawott adorn the interior and exterior of the themed train, which is set to run between Ise-Nakagawa Station in Shima and Kashikojima Station in Matsusaka until around July 2024.
Oshawott was appointed the ‘Support Pokémon’ of Mie Prefecture in December 2021. It’s said to be the perfect Pokémon’ to represent the region, which is located on the Pacific Coast of Japan and famous for the sacred Ise-Jingu Shrine, its ninja-related activities and pearls.
The kanji characters for Mie can also be pronounced ‘Miju’, which bears a resemblance to Oshawott’s name in Japanese, ‘Mijumaru’. Furthermore, the ‘scalchop’ seashell it carries on its stomach brings to mind Mie’s bountiful shellfish, including the Akoya pearl oyster.
Mie Prefecture and Oshawott will be working together to showcase the very best of Mie. Why not join Oshawott to discover what this charming part of Japan has to offer?
