Japan National Tourism Organization is announced as an official sponsor for ABTA 2019
Today, the Japan National Tourism Organization announced their involvement in the ABTA 2019 Travel Convention due to be hosted in Tokyo. JNTO - part of a bidding committee including Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Prince Hotels & Resorts – won the bid, in competition with other destinations.
The Travel Convention is the UK travel industry’s flagship event, providing inspiration and learnings to delegates through a programme of thought-provoking content. The event has established its identity as a forward-thinking event in the tourism sector, providing the opportunity for ABTA’s Members and the wider industry to understand what lies ahead and to shape the travel industry of tomorrow, rather than be shaped by it.
The convention will take place 7th - 9th October 2019 at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo and is expected to attract around 500 members. As well as ABTA Chief Executive Mark Tanzer, key individuals from UK travel agencies and tour operators are expected to attend.
JNTO, JATA, ANA and Prince Hotels & Resorts came together as the ABTA 2019 Travel Convention bidding committee, presenting to ABTA on the benefits of hosting in Tokyo and highlighting the demand for travel to Japan from the UK market.
Known for its world class public transport and neon-lit streets, Tokyo will also play host to the Rugby World Cup 2019 and the Tokyo Olympics 2020, forming the foundation of the British Council’s Japan/UK Season of Culture campaign. The hosting of ABTA 2019 will provide an additional platform from which to encourage growth of travel from the UK to Japan.
Attendees will be given the opportunity to experience Japanese history, culture, cuisine and the great outdoors as they explore beyond the capital to become acquainted with a less well travelled side of Japan.
