Tokyo 2020 Games will be held without overseas spectators

On 20 March 2021, the Japanese Government, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has decided in a five-party discussion that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held without overseas spectators due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Overseas ticket holders will not be allowed entry into Japan for the event.

The National Olympic Committees (NOCs), National Paralympic Committees (NPCs), and Authorized Ticket Resellers (ATRs) in each territory will announce details on the handling policy, refunds, and processing for tickets that have already been purchased. Please check the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee’s official website for further details.
