Partners Information: Seasonal flowers such as cherry blossoms, houkimomo (a native variety of peach blossoms) and irises bloom in Miyajidake Shrine, located in Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
The cherry blossom tree to the right of the main shrine is considered a good-luck charm as it is always the first tree in the shrine to bloom each spring, sometimes as early as January - so the blossoms may even be covered in snow! The other cherry blossom trees within the shrine's grounds normally blossom from the beginning of March through to the middle of April.
The grounds of the shrine will turn into a kaleidoscope of pink with the sakura trees, houkimomo, peonies and azaleas in full bloom in April. Further, you can enjoy one hundred varieties of over one million beautiful shobu (iris) flowers from the end of May through to mid-July.
