Daihonzan Naritasan Kurume Temple

Partners Information: Daihonzan Naritasan Kurume Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture. The temple was founded in 1958 after the enshrined deity, Fudo Myo-o, from Daihonzan Naritasan Shinshoji Temple in Chiba Prefecture was invited to this branch temple.

The temple is also famous for its 62-metre-tall statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. In the middle of her forehead is a gold-plated urna studded with 18 diamonds weighing a total of 3 karats. Her breast is inlaid with 56 quartz and jade stones and she cradles a 13-metre-long baby. Climb the spiral staircase within this Buddhist statue to a window opening out to views of Mount Unzen in the distance.
