Have you ever dreamed of being a character from your favourite movie or anime? Cosplay is the act of dressing up as a character from a manga, anime or game.
The World Cosplay Summit (WCS) is an annual event where cosplayers and people who love Japanese anime, manga and games gather in Japan in a unique form of cultural and international exchange. People from around the world, irrespective of age, gender or nationality, can participate and form lifelong friendships.
This year, WCS will be held on 7-8 August 2021 as a hybrid event for the first time (in person and online) so anyone can watch, even from outside of Japan. It’s a good chance to enjoy the cosplay world even if you haven’t experienced it before!
The World Cosplay Championship, the highlight of WCS, is a competition to decide the best cosplay performance team in the world for this year. Exciting performances from top cosplayers who survived the preliminaries held in 40 countries and regions throughout the world will be shown.
WCS is scheduled to be a face-to-face event from next year, so why not experience the excitement online this year and add the in-person event to your next trip?
