Partners Information: Make your own adorable piece of edible art to take home at an amezaiku workshop in Asakusa, Tokyo.
Amezaiku is the traditional art of crafting candy into various forms. The candy is heated and softened then shaped with bare hands and a pair of scissors.
Try your hand at this centuries-old craft at Asakusa Amezaiku Ameshin in Tokyo. In the hands-on workshop you will learn how to turn a ball of candy on a stick into a kawaii (cute) rabbit under the guidance of skilled craftspeople.
Afterwards you can browse the shop and marvel at the artisans’ creations, which are available for purchase, perhaps with a newfound respect for the edible artworks.
Reservations are recommended and both adults and children (high school aged and above) are welcome but each child needs to be accompanied and supervised by an adult. There aren’t many places offer amezaiku workshops so this is a great opportunity to experience this unique and tasty craft.
