The Japan Convention Bureau (part of JNTO) is at IMEX again for 2019! Japan is a really exciting destination, and as the Convention Manager in the London Office, I’m thrilled to be joining you with our 23 expert partners to tell you what Japan can bring to your events.
We’re bringing our pre-IMEX newsletters to you via the IMEX portal, blog posts on our website, and across our social media channels. - Shizuoka
Some of the first things that come to mind when you think of Japan might be Mount Fuji, the bullet train and green tea…and Shizuoka is the city that typifies this Japan experience. Located between Tokyo and Osaka, Japan’s fourth largest city, Nagoya, is a central and regional powerhouse. Industry, in particular manufacturing, has a strong history in Aichi prefecture. The region is home to some of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers, as well as industries such as aviation, ceramics and robotics.

- Osaka
A major commercial hub since ancient times, Osaka was the centre of the Japanese economy and the “kitchen of Japan”. Today, Osaka is still the centre of one of Japan’s largest economic, industrial and academic hubs. Osaka is also a unique cultural destination – hearty cuisine, traditional theatre, and the comedy capital of Japan.

- Kobe
Kobe’s role as a globally connected city is closely linked to its port. The legacy of visiting diplomats and traders can be seen both in Kobe’s architecture and industry. The southern coastal area is a leading zone of heavy and chemical industries, while there is a thriving agricultural industry to the north.

- Hiroshima
Recognised internationally as a city for peace, Hiroshima has hosted many related international conferences. Its history brings many domestic and international visitors – who then uncover the multiple sides to the city, including UNESCO world heritage shrines, great local cuisine and seafood, and a population highly engaged with sport (particularly baseball!).
