Overview:

Visit the World Heritage-designated site of Himeji Castle in 2020 and take part in a variety of brand new hands-on workshops. Learn the process behind making kimono, armor, and even furniture.

These workshops incorporate historical documents from the 17th century, including kimono drawings believed to have been created by Princess Sen, the daughter of shogun Tokugawa Hidetada. Other historical activities include a visit to one of the princess's rooms in the western tower, and the opportunity to view a variety of exhibits that faithfully recreate period clothing and illustrate daily life from centuries past.
